Holiday Overview
On this expert-led weekend retreat at the Crown Spa Hotel, you will stitch a quilt of many circles. Learn how to piece the blocks to achieve smooth seams with no puckers. The workshops will cover single and double pieced curves, curves with added applique, and curves incorporating foundation piecing.

Skill level: Some patchwork knowledge. Participants need to be able to use a rotary cutter and stitch an accurate ¼” seam
Techniques covered: Machine pieced single and double curves, machine applique, foundation piecing
What to bring: You will be provided with a kit list detailing fabrics and materials approximately 4 weeks in advance
Check in to your room from 3pm. Join your expert, retreat manager and fellow guests for dinner this evening.

Today Janet will introduce you to curved piecing and we’ll machine piece blocks with both single and double curves.

Highlights

Today we’ll look at how to add applique to our curved blocks using machine applique. We’ll also look at foundation piecing, finishing techniques and quilting. You will then depart the hotel and return home.

Please note: Private off-street car park for 17 cars is available at a charge of £10 per night November – April and £15 per night May – September. This must be booked in advance. Please contact the hotel directly on 01723 357400. There is usually ample on street parking facilities around the hotel. Hotel reception can provide you with a parking permit on arrival for £5.00 (2 day) and £10.00 (4 days).
There are 3 steps from the street to the hotel entrance. Bar and restaurant are located on the ground floor. There are 5 steps from the ground floor to the workshop room. All bedrooms are accessible by lift. There are 6 steps up and 6 steps down (12 total) to access the swimming pool.
