Skill level: Beginners upwards
Techniques covered: Hand quilting, use and choice of different threads and appropriate needles, making a folded Zokin, transferring designs to cloth for quilting, choosing designs for a wrapping cloth, simple ways to use the cloth in gift giving
What to bring: Basic hand sewing kit to include needles, pins, thimbles, thread snips, fabric scissors, needle threader, chalk pencil to mark fabric OR Hera marker (made by Clover), any 12wt threads you might want to try and appropriate needles (sashiko are useful), Optional: rotary cutting ruler for marking lines, although there will be some to share
Check in to your room from 3pm. Join your expert, retreat manager and fellow guests for dinner this evening.

Tour notes: There are 3 steps from the street to the hotel entrance. Workshop room, bar and restaurant are located on the ground floor. All bedrooms are accessible by lift. There are 6 steps up and 6 steps down (12 total) to access the swimming pool.
Private off-street car park for 17 cars is available at a charge of £10 per night November – April and £15 per night May – September and must be booked in advance. Please contact the hotel directly on 01723 357400. There is also usually ample on street parking facilities around the hotel. Hotel reception can provide you with a parking permit on arrival for £5.00 (2 day) and £10.00 (4 days).
