Meet your Arena Tour Travel Manager at London Heathrow airport for your morning flight to Iceland. Upon arrival into Reykjavík, we will be greeted by Hélène Magnússon, our knitting expert and our local guide. From the airport we will drive directly to the Blue Lagoon. We will spend some time here, soaking in the waters and having lunch at the Lava restaurant.
This morning we will enjoy our first knitting workshop with Hélène at the hotel and this afternoon we will visit her inspiring studio. You will also have the opportunity for time at leisure to explore Reykjavík.
Today we drive the Golden Circle route. As well as visiting Thingvellir National Park, Gullfoss waterfall and the renowned Geysir geothermal area, we will visit the Ístex mill where the unspun lopi is being made.
Enjoy a full-day knitting with Hélène at the hotel.
We will enjoy an excursion to the Hespa dyeing studio, the Þingborg wool centre and the Uppspuni mini-mill. We will be able to knit in the ‘baðstofa’, just like in the old days.
This morning we will enjoy our last knitting workshop with Hélène at the hotel. This afternoon we will visit the National Museum and enjoy some shopping in Reykjavík.
This morning we will depart our hotel for the airport for our return flight to the UK.
Tour Notes: You will need to have a reasonable level of fitness to get the most out of this holiday. On excursion days you will need to walk a short distance from the hotel to the coach and you should be able to board the coach unaided. On arrival at the excursion destination, you should be able to alight the coach unaided and there may be a walk between the coach drop off point and the excursion venue. By their nature, walking tours, museum visits etc involve being on your feet for a significant amount of time. Whilst our excursions are taken at a leisurely pace, for the enjoyment of everyone in the group you should be able to keep up with your fellow travellers.
You will be staying at the 4-star Grandi Hotel in Reykjavik for 6 nights.
