Seminole patchwork is a fun and quick process of piecing strips to create intricate designs with ease, which originated in South Florida with the Seminole Indians. Joy will introduce you to the technique and take you step by step through the process to make a project bag you can be proud of!

Techniques covered: Seminole piecing, inserting a zip, making a mesh pocket, adding edge binding
What to bring: What to bring: general sewing equipment, rotary cutter, 1m of black or navy cotton fabric, Best Press and 505 basting spray, if you have any. Some mats and rules will be available to share, but please bring your own if you have them.
Check in to your room from 3pm. Join your expert, retreat manager and fellow guests for dinner this evening.
Today, Joy will give an introduction to Seminole piecing as you cut, measure and sew Seminole patchwork bands.
Today you will combine the Seminole bands to make the outer fabric section of your bag. You will then add backing and wadding to quilt and insert a zip. Finally, you will attach the mesh pocket and binding to complete your bag.
Tour notes: Although there are no mobility requirements for this tour, please note that you will need to be able to make your own way between our workshop room, your bedroom and the restaurant, which could involve walks of up to 5 minutes. If you require full disabled access, please check with us before booking.
