Skill level: Beginners to Intermediate
Techniques covered: Knitting in the round on double-pointed needles, knitting in the round using magic loop, knitting socks top down, knitting socks toe up, short row shaping, & knitting backwards, a clever way to skip the purl rows.
What to bring: one set of 2.25mm double-pointed needles, one set of 4mm double-pointed needles, stitch holder, blunt ended darning needle, one 2.25mm 80cm circular needle
Check in to your room from 3pm. Join your expert, retreat manager and fellow guests for dinner this evening.
Spend the morning learning how to knit in the round, starting on a miniature sock project and moving on to a full-size sock in the afternoon, including short row shaping when you get to turn your heel and work a heel flap. Working top down, learn ways to solve common errors, get to grips with working on multiple needles and practice grafting a toe closed for smooth finish.
Start your day flipping what you learned yesterday by knitting a sock from the toe upwards. Using an alternative way of show row shaping to create a wrap and turn heel, the adventurous among you will also be invited to ditch the double points and try the magic loop method by working a narrow tube of knitting on longer circular needles.
Tour notes: Although there are no mobility requirements for this tour, please note that you will need to be able to make your own way between our workshop room, your bedroom and the restaurant, which could involve walks of up to 5 minutes. If you require full disabled access, please check with us before booking.

Set in 30 acres of beautiful countryside, the 4-star Blunsdon House Hotel is situated in the village of Broad Blunsdon.
