Zurich, the largest city in Switzerland, lies at the north end of Lake Zurich. During our stay here, we’ll enjoy two full-day workshops with Jane Crowfoot, spend a day exploring Old Town Zurich with a local guide, and sail on Lake Zurich to the home of Lindt chocolate. The Swiss Yarn Festival is the event for all wool and yarn enthusiasts! Knitting, crocheting, spinning and weaving are all represented, and we’ll enjoy a full day here.
Please choose your preferred 7 day itinerary
Workshop Information: Jane will design a knitting project inspired by the chocolate box scenery and surroundings of the beautiful Swiss countryside and will include techniques such as fairisle and intarsia. Jane will also focus on how to add beads to your knitting and how to work Swiss darning (also known as duplicate stitch). Jane will also show you how to create some pretty embroidery stitches to embellish your work.

The largest city in Switzerland, Zurich, was once home to Einstein, James Joyce and Wagner. With our local guide, we will enjoy a walking tour of the Old Town, learning about the city’s past as we stroll its hidden alleyways and picturesque squares. After some free time for lunch, we will take a short boat ride on Lake Zurich to Kilchberg, home of the chocolate maker Lindt.
Here, at their new chocolate museum, we will learn about the journey of the cocoa bean, from its growing region all the way to Europe, and how cocoa pods are processed into the finest chocolate. We'll see how chocolate conquered the world during its 5,000-year history, and how Switzerland became the chocolate capital of the world. In their chocolate factory, we will see how their small chocolate bars are produced and taste some samples.
The event for all wool and yarn enthusiasts! Whether it’s knitting, crocheting, spinning, weaving, embroidery or bobbin lace, you’ll meet like-minded people, discover the latest creations, learn new techniques or deepen your knowledge in one of the numerous workshops!
Workshops to be booked and paid for directly with the show organisers. Find out more on the Swiss Yarn Festival website.

Tour notes: You will need to have a reasonable level of fitness to get the most out of this holiday. On excursion days you will need to walk a short distance from the hotel to the coach and you should be able to board the coach unaided. On arrival at the excursion destination, you should be able to alight the coach unaided and there may be a walk between the coach drop off point and the excursion venue. By their nature, walking tours, museum visits etc involve being on your feet for a significant amount of time. Whilst our excursions are taken at a leisurely pace, for the enjoyment of everyone in the group you should be able to keep up with your fellow travellers.
You will stay for six nights at the 4-star Hotel Glockenhof in Zurich.
