“This September, we will be sharing an unforgettable journey through the cultural and textile heritage of the fascinating country of Armenia. We will spend our days sightseeing and visiting local artisans who will share their crafts with us – I’m particularly looking forward to the batik and doll making workshops!
We’ll also visit the Yerevan folk museum, the Megeryan Carpet Factory, go on a cable car to 9th century monastery at Tatev, and see a little bit of the Great Silk Road and a forest. All the while, we’ll be guided by local experts and drivers, so we don’t have to worry our heads about any of the logistics (what a delight!).
Of course, we’ll have plenty of time for stitching and chatting too. We have scheduled workshop time where we will learn how to English paper piece (or practice our skills if you’ve done it before) using hand sewing and some fabric from one of my Moda collections.
In addition to the workshop project, I also always love to hand stitch and embroider a special souvenir as we go along, adding motifs from our travels such as ribbons and badges we gather along the way (there’s always time for shopping!). These creations are truly unique and make the best souvenirs of our time together.

I’m so looking forward to our stitching holiday and exploring Armenia with you all!”
It’s hard not to get excited too, isn’t it? Don’t miss your chance to secure your place on this once-in-a-lifetime journey through the Textiles and Traditions of Armenia or discover more holidays led by Janet Clare here.
